What should I do if a QR code won’t scan?
If a QR code cannot be scanned, don’t worry. There are several ways to verify the attendee and complete check-in.
Step 1: Ask for the ticket ID
Every Gigstarters ticket includes a unique ticket ID displayed below the QR code.
Ask the attendee to:
- Open their ticket.
- Locate the ticket ID.
- Provide the ticket ID to event staff.
You can then enter the ticket ID manually into the check-in interface to complete the check-in.
Step 2: Verify the booking using the purchaser’s email address
If the attendee cannot access their ticket or locate the ticket ID:
- Ask for the purchaser’s email address.
- Log in to your organiser dashboard.
- Locate the booking associated with that email address.
- Retrieve the ticket ID from the booking record.
- Enter the ticket ID manually into the check-in interface.
Step 3: Review the ticket status
If the ticket still cannot be checked in, review its status.
Tickets that are already Used, Cancelled or Suspended may not be eligible for entry.
To reduce entry delays:
- Encourage attendees to access their tickets before arriving.
- Train ushers on how to perform manual ticket verification.
- Use QR scanning whenever possible, as it is the fastest check-in method.
Most check-in issues can be resolved using the ticket ID without delaying entry.
If you’ve tried scanning the QR code and manually entering the ticket ID but are still unable to verify the booking, we’re here to help.
