What’s the difference between Orders and Transactions?
Orders and Transactions are related, but they are not the same thing.
Orders represent supporter bookings and purchase records.
An Order is created whenever a supporter books a Campaign or purchases tickets for an Event.
Orders may or may not result in a successful payment transaction.
Transactions represent payment and charge records.
A Transaction is created when a payment is successfully processed.
Because Campaign bookings are only charged after confirmation:
- An Order can exist without a Transaction.
- A confirmed payment will generate both an Order and a Transaction.
As a simple rule:
Orders track bookings.
Transactions track money.
