Postponing an Event

Postponements are sometimes unavoidable.

Unexpected circumstances such as venue issues, travel disruptions, regulatory changes or other operational challenges may make it difficult to proceed as originally planned.

If you believe postponement may be necessary, it’s important to act early.

This gives you more time to:

  • Explore alternative solutions
  • Communicate with Gigstarters Support
  • Inform supporters appropriately
  • Minimise disruption to attendees

When considering a postponement, think carefully about whether the revised arrangements remain fair and reasonable for supporters.

Questions to consider include:

  • Is the new date likely to work for most attendees?
  • How much notice can you provide?
  • Will other aspects of the event remain substantially similar?

Postponements are generally assessed on a case-by-case basis and require approval.

If you anticipate difficulties delivering your event as planned, reaching out early usually leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.
