Step-by-step guides to help you create and manage your gigs

Updating Your Venue

One of the advantages of running gigs here is the ability to validate demand before making every decision upfront. This means that, in some cases, organisers may publish a campaign before their venue has been fully confirmed.

Venue details can still be updated after publishing. This flexibility can be useful if you’re:

  • finalising venue negotiations;
  • waiting to better understand expected attendance;
  • exploring different venue options within the same area; or
  • planning to scale your event based on demand.

If your venue has not yet been confirmed, it’s important to set expectations clearly from the beginning.

You may choose to publish using:

  • a general area;
  • a venue direction; or
  • a tentative location plan.

For example:

  • Café in the Newton–Novena area
  • Studio near Bugis MRT
  • Venue along Orchard Road
  • Bar in Clarke Quay

As your campaign progresses, you should work towards confirming the exact venue details and updating your supporters as soon as possible.

If your venue changes after supporters have already booked tickets, communicate the update promptly and clearly.

Starting smaller and scaling upward is often easier than downsizing later. If demand exceeds expectations, supporters are generally more receptive to venue upgrades than venue downgrades. Significant venue changes may affect supporter expectations and result in refund requests.

Key takeaway: Venue flexibility can help reduce upfront risk, but transparency matters. Keep supporters informed and ensure that any venue changes continue to deliver the experience you’ve promised.
