Step-by-step guides to help you create and manage your gigs
Building Early Momentum
The first few days of your campaign often set the tone for everything that follows.
Early bookings create visibility, build confidence and show potential supporters that there is genuine interest in your event. People are often more willing to book when they can already see others getting involved.
This doesn’t mean you need hundreds of bookings immediately. What matters is creating enough initial activity to demonstrate that your event is moving in the right direction.
Before your gig goes live, think about:
- Who is most likely to support you first.
- Where those people already spend their time.
- How you’ll encourage them to take action early.
- What message you’ll use to explain why booking early matters.
Your first supporters often come from people who already know, trust or believe in what you’re creating, such as:
- Existing followers
- Friends and family
- Communities you’re already part of
- Previous attendees
- Mailing list subscribers
- Social media audiences
- Collaborators, partners or featured guests
Rather than trying to reach everyone at once, focus first on the people who are most likely to say yes.
A campaign that gains momentum early tends to attract more attention over time. Supporters feel reassured when they can see progress, and that confidence often encourages others to join in.
One practical approach is to think about your first 10, 20 or 30 bookings before you publish. Ask yourself:
- Who are these people?
- How will they hear about the gig?
- What reason do they have to book early?
Having answers to these questions before launch can make a significant difference to how your gig performs.
Building early momentum isn’t about creating artificial hype. It’s about giving your gig the strongest possible start by activating the audience that’s already closest to you.
